Reading is Thinking!!
We are learning READING IS THINKING and it is important to think while we read to help us understand what the author is teaching us!!!! During and after reading a story we can make statements; I liked... I didn't like...It reminds me of.. During reading a story we can ask questions; I wonder... How would I feel... We will practice this type of thinking as we read in the classroom by giving each student the opportunity to draw and record their thoughts on the i-pad during shared reading.
Today, we read It's Pumpkin Time by Zoe Hall and illustrated by Shari Halpen.
Sierra illustrated a picture of her on our field trip to the pumpkin patch. This story reminded her of the pumpkin patch and all the work they had to do to get the pumpkins to grow.

Hedgie Wears A Hat
After reading The Hat by Jan Brett, we followed a guided drawing lesson to draw our own hedgehog. In the story, Hedgie the Hedgehog finds a hat and he thinks the other animals are making fun of him, but they actually want a hat like his. We created our own book about the kind of hat Hedgie might wear. Enjoy!
