Blanket the Table~Cool Way to Review Learning
Today before reading Hairy Bear, we activated prior knowledge about real bears and teddy bears. Each table was assigned a teddy bear or a real bear. Then they wrote or drew facts on sticky notes and covered the table. They had 5 minutes to see how many facts they could write or draw. After 5 minutes, we organized our facts in a Venn Diagram.
Blanket the Table can be played at home to review skills and learning. All you need are some sticky notes or scrap paper and start covering the table with... Math Facts, Sight Words, Word Family Words, Objects that begin with _(letter)_, Categories (food groups, transportation, animals, sports, shapes, things with wheels, games that use a ball, colors). GET THE WHOLE FAMILY INVOLVED!!!

Migration and Hibernation
Miss Jamie, an instructor from Fallen Timbers, came in to teach us about animals that migrate, hibernate, and stay active in the winter. In the pictures, you will see us using actions to predict whether an animal hibernates, migrates, or stays active in the winter. The hawk was a tricky one!

A Peak At Our Busy Week...so far!
We completed math and reading MAP testing and enjoyed some pumpkin fun! Alex, our high school volunteer, helped us scoop out the pulp and seeds in our pumpkin. We counted the seeds by 10's and ended up with 390 seeds! During choice time, in the games and puzzles center, many of us enjoyed playing gourd tic-tac-toe. In the art center, students created 5 Little Pumpkins Sitting on a Gate, which is a song we learned in music.

We Built Mr. Potato Head!!!
Our whole class worked as a team cleaning up, being kind, helping others, and following directions. Each time we did that we added a piece to Mr. Potato Head. When he was complete, we earned extra recess and an ice cream treat. That celebration happened yesterday and here are some pictures! Way to go, Kindergartners!
